[Hamara-devel] patches in iceweasel - 29 in all.

Hi all,
While I am not able to share the mail with Mike as it was a personal 
mail and lot other than just iceweasel/Firefox for now. Also it was long 
and winding as most of my emails wind up. One of the things we did talk 
was about 'Rust' and the possibility we might see it in debian soonish 
and beginnings of a new iceweasel (it will be in the form of chrome.) I 
wouldn't go into that for the moment as that road is long.

Anyways, back to the patches at hand.

This is how the patches should be read

the first 15 are debian-hacks which means these would be patches which 
debian would need to hold forever as they are debian-specific patches 
and there is no chance that mozilla upstream would ever accept them, no 
value for them.

The next three are fixes which may eventually be absorbed by mozilla 
upstream but again no guarantees.

the next four in the list are to do with iceweasel-branding which again 
would need to be held by debian forever or till another name/branding 
takes over.

The next one is a patch in internalization

The next three are patches for porting which again would be held by debian

The next and last three are patches for preferences in iceweasel. Again, 
mozilla doesn't gain anything from it anywhere..

So, in the grand total of 26 patches only 3 patches are upstreamable.

We can't blame mozilla also because if they change to a more 
copyleft/permissive licensing then they will not be able to handle the 
pull requests (PR's) that such a move may generate. Also contrary to 
popular belief, mozilla doesn't have the bench strength as far as coding 
is concerned and yet still somehow manage to get a new release tested, 
translated in something like 150-200 languages and still not miss the 
date consistently for the last couple of years that I have been watching.

I didn't ask about icedove as I'm sure it will have a similar listing as 
well.

Note - I have never sent a mail with 29 attachments, hope the patches 
don't get mangled while at the same time their ordering is not mangled 
as well.
