Hi all,
There are quite a few climate-science packages which are in Debian. I do
not know whether this is something we want to get into because this is
actually 'big data' in every sense of the word.

[$] aptitude show cdo

Package: cdo
State: not installed
Version: 1.6.4+dfsg.1-5.1+b1
Priority: optional
Section: utils
Maintainer: Alastair McKinstry <mckinstry at debian.org>
Architecture: amd64
Uncompressed Size: 3,631 k
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.14), libcdi0 (= 1.6.4+dfsg.1-5.1+b1), libgomp1 (>=
4.9), libhdf5-8, libmagplus3, libnetcdfc7, libproj0 (>= 4.8.0)
Description: Climate Data Operators
  Climate Data Operators are a collection of command line Operators to
manipulate and analyse Climate model Data. Supported data formats are
GRIB, netCDF, SERVICE, EXTRA and IEG. There are more than 400 operators
available.

There are also quite a number of packages in almost every field of
science and humanities and arts which are free software and not yet
packaged.

I am just restraining myself till the initial .iso comes and then
possibly will be sharing all of those.
