That link would be deprecated soonish, I use tracker.debian.org/$PKGNAME 
to see the state. The CVE which is against that package is the reason 
that the particular version is out. The CVE is also up the other version 
as well, so if that doesn't get fixed soon by the developers upstream 
then it probably will be taken out of Debian. The DD or DM who maintains 
the package could also fix it or could exert some pressure on upstream 
to fix it as well. Which of these dynamics will happen depends on lot of 
things. Many DM's and DD's get discouraged if the popcon of the package 
is too low as well. By popcon i mean popularity contest.

@ Raju, if you have an interest in the package, write to the upstream 
people mentioning your interest. I have seen quite a few projects being 
awakened by dead if you are polite and yet persistent enough. So this 
should be a walk in the park by comparison.
