That is for you to decide. I wonder why though. The debian repos will have newer releases. We already have 8.5.8 in unstable and we are working on updating it to 8.6. I'm already running git.fosscommunity.in using the debian package.

It is a strange argument for someone making a distro. Packages are not just for first time installation, but keeping it updated.
