I recommend that you re-post above email (including the reasoning which 
I've snipped as irrelevant for this reply) to the Debian bugreport, as 
it is quite valuable for anyone else considering to spend (i.e. waste) 
similar efforts for their Debian(-derived) work.


Too bad it didn't work out, after all you've poured into it.
