The whole point of choosing pidgin was support for multiple protocols.

If we are looking for a clear xmpp client, I will suggest gajim with gajim-omemo plugin.

With google and facebook dropping xmpp support, I see no value in pidgin (I didn't think about this angle last time we discussed). If we are including icedove, it already has multi protocol chat support. As for the name change to thunderbird, I think it has not happened yet, likely because its considered a lower priority task compared to firefox renaming.

So either include gajim, which I recommend now or drop pidgin in favour of icedove. If we are going for gajim, include httpupload and urlimagepreview plugins.
