With a beta release I assume your product is (not perfect but) concrete 
- i.e. not expected to change fundamentally.

I believe in "release early, release often" and think you would benefit 
from joining the Derivative Census as early as possible: Some feedback 
you get from that may very well aid you in the very refinement of your 
product.

Initial task is relatively simple: Subscribe to the mailinglist, and 
create a wiki page filling out as much facts about your distribution as 
you can.  Then you'll get a welcome mail from one of the stewards of the 
Derivative Census project with suggestions for things you might tighten 
up on.

...it is those suggestions in the welcome email that I imagine makes 
*now* the perfect time for you to join ;-)
