Hi all,
Any update to getting Mailman 3.0 for hamara lists ? If not, has there
been any try at all at trying the new mailman. There could be a demo
list setup and we all could just push and pull some messages so that the
admins get a feel for the new interface.
What does everybody think about that ? If people think it's a good idea,
can put up a bug-report for that so that once 3.1 comes which has a
roadmap from the 2.8/2.9 to 3.1 (currently there isn't a straight method
and needs quite a bit of manual hand-holding) we could be upto speed in
no time.
There is a reason I ask about this because I do not know what the fate
of the forum is/would be . As shared before, Mailman 3.0 and later
versions, you could make it look like it's a forum and people would be
able to send mails too, so depending on which interface you like or not,
information is delivered between all participants.
The other way is to use phpBB for forum and IIRC some people do not like
PHP so much. There is stirrings of some good news there but not raising
as it could turn out to be false hopes as well.
See https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2293181&start=15
That would make much sense if we are able to do/have 2-way co-ordination
between the mailing list and the forum.
If somebody either at hamara or from extended group of programmers would
like to take a look at that, most welcome to try that.
@Akshat, maybe you would like to take a shot at the above, let me know
what you think ?
